I'm Andrea, I'm 37, Tuscan, wine artisan and this is my, our story.
It all started 60 years ago with my grandfather Ermete, who has always been passionate about agriculture and wine.
My grandfather bought a small piece of land in Montepulciano and started making wine for himself and his family. He built a small cellar with his own hands, dug out of the "tuff" and thanks to that cellar and the great passion he has handed down to us today we are here.
After my grandfather died, my father decided to continue this adventure and devote himself to viticulture, studying, experimenting, step by step, day after day until the production of the first bottle in 2011 which naturally bore the name of my grandfather "Hermes".
I grew up in the middle of nature, in the countryside, among the rows of grapes, among the aromas of wine and despite at 20 years of age I decided to go to university and dedicate myself to other things, the great passion for wine has always remained, until when after completing my studies I decided to go back to doing what makes me happier: living in the countryside, cultivating the land, supporting my father in the company and working with him to develop it.
A few years later I got married and my wife also decided to work side by side with us.
Ours is a small company that has grown day after day with sweat, ambition and above all with the contribution of every member of the family.
Five hectares of vineyards, mostly located on the hills of Montepulciano, at about 550 m a.s.l. and surrounded by deciduous forests. Soils rich in clay, limestone and silt, "rough" ... just like us.
Another part of the vineyards is located at a lower altitude, in Valdichiana, where sand and silt are the protagonists, giving the wines a characteristic elegance.
As in most of Tuscany, Sangiovese is the grape variety par excellence, flanked by other small plots of indigenous Tuscan vines now in disuse: Colorino, Canaiolo, Pugnitello.
Our wines tell a story, for us it is like going back 50 years, to simple and traditional processes, manual processes and wine made out of passion.
The wine should reflect the character of the winemaker, especially in small farms where the harmony between the vineyard-cellar-winemaker is maximum and for us "ours" can be called "a Francesco Nuti Tuscan": rough, simple and straightforward.
Wine is produced in the most ancient, sustainable and natural way, with total respect for the environment, natural resources and the consumer, without the use of pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and synthetic chemical compounds in the winemaking process, nor of invasive oenological practices.
Fermentations are spontaneous every year without chemical inductions and the refinement process is slow and accurate so as to allow a very low sulfur content while maintaining long-lasting wines.
The techniques and processes of viticulture of our company aim to contribute to the maintenance of animal and plant biodiversity. The concept is to support the natural ecosystem balance, without intervening invasively in altering what nature alone offers us.
For this reason, in the vineyards between the rows, the grassing of the soil is spontaneous, this allows both to retain the right amount of water and nutrients and to establish a natural competition between the various herbaceous species and the vine so as to encourage the vine itself to push with its deep roots, where it will find more nourishment.
Human interventions (soil tillage and treatments) are reduced to a minimum and carried out wisely so as not to alter the organic composition of the soil and introduce foreign substances to the environment.
In this way, "ant vines" are obtained which are not luxuriant but calm, which produce small, very rich bunches of content.
This path began many years ago and has continued over time with effort and dedication.
The grapes are rigorously selected, maintaining on average production around 50 quintals per hectare, all harvested manually, with an annual production of around 20,000 bottles.
This management of the territory together with the wine-making method without chemistry means that the wine from Podere della Bruciata can be defined as NATURAL as well as BIOLOGICAL.
The company has always been certified organic and has been a member of Vinnatur for many years, an Italian association that gathers many producers of natural wine from all parts of Italy and beyond.
For us, producing wine in a natural way means "acting in full respect of the territory, the vine and the natural cycles, as well as the consumer".
Our methods are simple and our means modest since we argue that great works are not needed to make a good wine.
Respect for the raw material, the territory of Montepulciano and the consumer are the avanguard of our method: we ourselves are the first and most demanding customers.
We take care of every detail for the sake of wine and joy in drinking it GOOD and GENUINE.
Although small we like to experiment and enhance all the potential of our territory.
For this reason we produce different types of wine: white, rosé, red, as well as vermouth and grappa.
Among the most popular and most representative wines of our territory there is undoubtedly the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, a wine whose origins are lost over time.
The essence of this wine is the maximum expression of the terroir in which we cultivate our vineyards, with a variety of Sangiovese called here in Montepulciano "Prugnolo Gentile".

Montepulciano occupies a ridge of land that divides two large valleys, the Val d’Orcia and the Valdichiana; the first cultural site of the UNESCO heritage, famous all over the world for the sweetness and singularity of its curves and for its enchanting landscapes; the second land of origin of the famous "Chianina" bovine breed.
The territory of Montepulciano extends for an area of about 165 sq km on mountain-hilly reliefs some of which reach 600 m above sea level, overlooking the underlying plains.
Its temperate climate, sheltered from winds and frosts that loom over the valleys, has always made it suitable for growing vines.
Montepulciano is in fact a place with great artistic and landscape riches, but above all a place where the tradition for wine has deep roots documented since the early Middle Ages, when it was known that the vineyards of "Mons Pulitianus" produced excellent wines.
This is where the "Vino Nobile di Montepulciano" was born, one of the first Italian DOCGs together with Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti; among all, however, it is the Noble of Montepulciano that holds the record of the first band, exactly the n. Aa00001 as evidence of its ancient origins.
The grape variety par excellence is Sangiovese, which reaches its maximum expression here.
The whole municipality is in fact characterized by a medium clay mixture, excellent for the cultivation of Sangiovese, as on the one hand the clay gives minerality to the wine, on the other silt and sand give elegance and that full fruit taste that goes well with the first.
